Two of Falkirk’s favourite attractions have been nominated this week as finalists for VisitScotland’s prestigious Scottish Thistle Awards 2025.

The Helix Park has been shortlisted for the Best Visitor Attraction category, while the successful Kelpies 10 celebration is in the running for Outstanding Cultural Event/Festival.

Both nominations fall within the Central and East region, highlighting their significant contribution to local tourism and culture.

Operated by Falkirk Council, The Helix and its iconic Kelpies sculptures have become internationally recognised landmarks.

Opened in 2013, The Helix provides a 350-hectare green space connecting 17 local communities via an extensive path network, offering various family-friendly activities and attractions. While its crown jewel, The Kelpies, has helped place Falkirk as a leading Scottish tourism destination, welcoming more than eight million visitors since opening.

The Kelpies 10 event recently marked a decade since the official unveiling of the famous sculptures in April 2014. The unique festival attracted over 14,000 visitors with a day filled with live performances, family-friendly entertainment, heritage activities, and an evening concert headlined by renowned Scottish artists.

Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council, said:

This recognition from the Scottish Thistle Awards underlines the incredible work our teams do to create outstanding visitor experiences.

“Both The Helix and Kelpies 10 have shown the very best of Falkirk, helping attract thousands of visitors and making our region proud, and we look forward to seeing their achievements celebrated at the upcoming awards ceremony.

The regional award ceremony for Central and East will take place on 11 September 2025 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, where the winners will be announced.
