Falkirk Science Festival 2025 launched earlier this week, bringing two weeks of events that explore science, technology, the environment, and innovation.

From 3 to 17 May, people of all ages are able to take part in a wide range of free and low-cost activities across the Falkirk area.

The aim of the festival is to make science fun, inclusive, and accessible. Events include workshops, nature walks, talks, creative sessions, and film screenings, all designed to help people explore the world around them and think about how science is part of everyday life.

Highlights include:

  • Badger Talk & Walk at Muiravonside Park (Saturday 10 May) – An illustrated talk followed by a nature walk to try and spot these shy animals.
  • STEM @ The Helix (Saturday 10 May) – A lively day of workshops and demonstrations in the science marquees, open to all ages.
  • Science in Film series at the Hippodrome Cinema (11 & 17 May) – Two screenings, including Silent Men, a documentary exploring masculinity and mental health, and Whisky Galore, a classic Scottish film.
  • Menopausal! What’s Your Superpower? (Sunday 11 May, Grangemouth Town Hall) – This £5 ticketed event offers information and support for people going through menopause. A range of speakers and stallholders will share advice and answer questions about how to manage symptoms and make informed choices.

Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council said:

The event allows residents of all ages to take part in discovering what science can do in everyday lives. There still a chance to sign up for the next few events and we’d encourage everyone to come along and see what they can learn.

Falkirk Science Festival is organised by Falkirk Council with support from community partners and volunteers. The full programme and booking details are available on the Falkirk Science Festival website
