World Cup 2026: plan your journey ahead
Many people in the Falkirk Council area are expected to go out to watch World Cup matches this summer.
Some fixtures are due to kick off late at night or during the early hours. This means buses, trains and taxis may be limited by the time matches finish.
Before you go out, please plan how you will get home.
Check before you travel
Do not assume your usual buses or trains will still be running after the match.
Before leaving home:
- check public transport times using Traveline Scotland
- check train times with ScotRail
- check local bus times and service updates with your operator through our transport timetable information page
- check road updates through Traffic Scotland
- arrange a lift with someone who is not drinking alcohol
- stay local if you can
- make sure your phone is charged
- have a back-up plan
Taxis and private hire
Taxis and private hire vehicles may be busier than normal on match nights.
Book in advance where possible. Do not wait until the end of the match to make arrangements.
You can find information about local taxi operators on the Visit Falkirk website: Getting here by taxi
Driving and parking
If you are driving, check parking arrangements before you travel.
Falkirk Council has information on public car parks and park and ride locations across the area.
Never drink alcohol and drive.
Accessible local transport
People who have mobility difficulties and cannot use standard public transport may be able to use Dial-a-Journey.
Journeys need to be booked in advance.
