The information is being collected for the following purpose: To support the decision making structures which allow the Council to discharge its functions. The legal basis for each purpose is set out below:

The Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 contains provisions which govern local authority meetings and which extend to committee meetings. The Council, and its committees, determine how money is spent in the area and how the Council's services, such as schools, waste collection and housing will be arranged and delivered. The Council also decides on regulatory matters such as planning and licensing issues. Meetings are generally open to the public and are managed in accordance with the Act. What information do we collect about you? (categories of personal data)
We will collect information from you in paper and online forms, by telephone, email, audio recordings of Council and Executive meetings and in conversation with a member of our staff. We will also collect information from one or more of our partner agencies.

Minutes and agendas of Falkirk Council meetings and its committees are considered public records. Agendas and minutes are published on our website. Full sets are retained permanently in Falkirk libraries as well as being available for inspection at Falkirk Council Archives. Audio recordings of Council and Executive/Education Executive meetings are posted online.
The Council has a duty to protect public funds. We may check your information within the Council for verification purposes and/or for the prevention of fraud. We may share your information with other organisations where we are required to do so for the purposes of the prevention or detection of crime.
Will we send your information outwith the UK? (transfers to other countries)
We do not transfer your information outwith the UK.
How long do we keep hold of your information?
We keep your information as long as required by law or by our business requirements. We have a Business Classification Scheme in place which sets out the types of records we hold, and how long we hold them - you can access the relevant part of the scheme below.
Do I have to provide my personal data to you?
Yes, you will have to provide your personal information should you wish to attend a committee meeting.
Do you use any automated processes to make decisions about me?
We do not use automated decision making processes.
