Falkirk Council operates a number of public realm CCTV cameras located across the Council area in partnership with Police Scotland. This notice provides details of what information we collect from you, what we do with it, and who it might be shared with.

Why do we collect this information?
The information is being collected for the following purposes:
- community safety
- public protection
- the prevention and detection of crime

Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest namely to make people feel safe and keep the Falkirk Council area tidy.
What information do we collect about you?
We may monitor and record images of you and/or your vehicle in public places in the Falkirk Council area. Images from these cameras are monitored on both a live and recorded basis.
Where do we collect information from?
Images come from a number of public realm CCTV cameras located across the Falkirk Council area. Public notices are displayed where these cameras are located. Cameras are clearly visible and surveillance is general in nature and includes:
- Live and recorded images within public spaces across the Falkirk Council area; and
- CCTV images may capture your face and your vehicle.
Who might we share your information with?
Police Scotland may have access to these images, but only by making a formal request.
Will we send your information outwith the UK?
The information we monitor/record will not be sent outwith the UK unless a valid request is made from a foreign law enforcement agency.
How long do we keep hold of your information?
Any retained images will kept securely for a maximum of 1 month for images held within the monitoring system and in any other format for a maximum of 3 months. Any access registers will also be retained securely for a maximum of 3 months.
Do I have to provide my personal data to you?
We cannot prevent your image being captured if you are in public places which are covered by a CCTV camera.
Do you use any automated processes to make decisions about me?
We do not use automated decision making processes.
