Employers line up to support jobseekers at Grangemouth Town Hall careers event
People across the Falkirk Council area who are looking for work, thinking about a career change or wanting support to build their skills can attend two free employability events in Grangemouth on Thursday 10 September 2026.
Organised by Falkirk Council, the events are part of the first Scottish Employability Day, with local authorities across Scotland showing what help is available for people looking for work or training.
At Grangemouth Town Hall, a Jobs and Careers Insight Event will bring employers together with people who want to ask about vacancies, apprenticeships, training and different routes into work.
Twenty-four employers have already confirmed attendance, including Balfour Beatty, Ogilvie, Stantec, Paragon, Class One Traffic Management, Lowland Cooperage, Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership and Falkirk Council.
Representatives can discuss vacancies, recruitment and apprenticeships, with several employers actively recruiting on the day.
Cllr Paul Garner, spokesperson for Economic Development, said:
These events are a chance for local people to speak directly to employers and find out what jobs, training and career support are available across the Falkirk area.
"With 24 employers taking part alongside support organisations, people can find out what is available now, what may be coming next, and who can help them take the next step.
"Whether you're leaving school, returning to work, changing career or looking to develop your skills, I'd encourage you to come along and see what support and opportunities are available.
At the same time, Grangemouth Municipal Chambers will host an Employability Support Open Day, bringing together organisations that can help with training, skills, confidence, advice and other issues that can make it harder to get into work.
Organisations attending include CVS Falkirk, Cyrenians, Triage, Falkirk Council's Welfare Benefits team, The Conservation Volunteers, Link Living, Go Youth Trust, Barnardo's, One Parent Families Scotland and the Salvation Army.
The events are open to everyone, including school leavers, people considering a career change, those returning to work, people facing redundancy and anyone who wants help to get ready for work.
Last year, Falkirk Council's employability service supported 408 local people into work, helped 641 people gain qualifications and supported 98 people to start Modern Apprenticeships.
