New Chair appointed to lead Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board
Suzanne Scott has been appointed Chair of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board, which will guide a long-term programme of community-led investment in The Braes Villages and Hallglen.
She will lead the Board as it works with residents, community organisations, businesses and partners to help shape how investment is delivered and how it can benefit the area over the long term.
Pride in Place is a £20 million, ten-year UK Government-funded programme that supports communities to shape their own future. It focuses on community-led investment to improve health, wellbeing, opportunity and pride in place, with the Braes Villages and Hallglen area been selected to take part.
Community experience
Suzanne Scott has been involved in a local community-led action group, supporting work to secure investment for the area and helping residents share their views on local priorities.
She also brings leadership and organisational experience from her professional background in retail management and broader operational roles.
Suzanne Scott said:
The people who live in a place understand it best and should have a central role in shaping its future.
“Pride in Place gives us the chance to make sure investment in The Braes Villages and Hallglen is led by the community and supports lasting improvements.
“I want the Board to reflect the diversity of our area, and I would encourage anyone with an interest in their community to consider applying.
Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council, said:
Pride in Place gives local people a central role in shaping investment in their area, and the Neighbourhood Board will be central to that.
“Suzanne's experience of working alongside residents in The Braes Villages and Hallglen will help make sure the programme reflects local priorities. I would encourage anyone who wants to play a part to find out more about joining the Board.
Board Members sought
Recruitment is now open for Board Members to join the Neighbourhood Board. This is a voluntary role, and no previous board experience is needed.
Applications are particularly welcome from people whose voices are often under-represented in decision-making.
The Board will be made up primarily of local residents, representatives of community groups and organisations, and local businesses.
Local councillors, the MSP for Falkirk East and Linlithgow and the MP for Falkirk will also be members, but the majority of the Board must come from the community.
Board Members will help shape a ten-year Pride in Place Investment Plan, consider funding proposals and support community engagement. The commitment is around eight meetings a year, with induction, training and officer support provided.
Board Member selection is taking place until Friday 10 July 2026. To apply, complete an Expression of Interest form via above link and send it to PrideInPlace@falkirk.gov.uk.
