Introduction

The Pride in Place Programme is a £20 million, ten-year UK government-funded initiative that supports communities to shape their own future. It focuses on community-led investment to improve health, wellbeing, opportunity and pride in place over the long term.

The Braes Villages & Hallglen area has been selected to take part in the programme. This creates a unique opportunity for local people, community organisations, businesses and partners to work together to decide what investment looks like and how it delivers lasting benefits for residents.

Purpose of the role

As a Board Member, you will play an important part in shaping the direction of the Pride in Place Programme in the Braes Villages & Hallglen. Working alongside other residents and local partners, you will help guide decisions, bring local insight, and ensure that the programme remains rooted in the priorities of the community.

The Neighbourhood Board is designed to be community-led, with decision-making resting primarily with local people. Board Members are expected to bring their own perspectives, challenge constructively, listen to others, and work collaboratively to agree priorities that reflect the diversity of the area.

You do not need previous board experience to apply. We particularly welcome interest from people whose voices are often under‑represented in decision‑making.

The Neighbourhood Board

The Board will be made up primarily of:

  • Local residents
  • Representatives of community groups and organisations
  • Local businesses and anchor organisations

Local Councillors, the MSP for Falkirk East & Linlithgow and the MP for Falkirk will also be members, however the majority of the Board must be composed of members of the community and not be elected representatives, with community voices at the centre of decision-making.

Falkirk Council is the accountable body and will provide officer support, guidance and training to all Board Members.
