A Head Teacher / Senior Management Team member of staff may decide to exclude a
pupil as a last resort to protect the education or welfare of the pupils and staff
in the school. The school will contact the parent / carer, confirming the exclusion
and detailing the reasons for it.
Parents / carers have the right to appeal against
any decision to exclude their child from school. Information on how to appeal will
be contained in the letter from the school.
Following exclusion, a resolution meeting will be arranged between the school, the
pupil and parents/carers to determine the way forward for future behaviour.
The school and Children's Services provides support and advice for parents of excluded
children and for the child. Support for continued learning for the young person,
while they are excluded, will be provided by the school.
