Cold Weather Payments will be made when the temperature in your area is either recorded as, or forecast to be, an average of zero degrees Celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.
If you receive the following benefits, you may be entitled to Cold Weather Payments:
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
- Support for Mortgage Interest
How much will I get?
You'll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between 01 November and 31 March.
How to claim
You do not need to apply.
If you're eligible to get a Cold Weather Payment, you'll be paid it automatically.
You should receive your payment within 14 working days.
It is usually paid into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments.
Cold Weather Payments do not affect other benefits you may be getting.
