A new memorial wall at Falkirk Crematorium was completed last year following requests from families and funeral directors for an additional option for remembering loved ones.
The memorial wall completed in 2021 replaced a deteriorating brick wall and is proving popular with over 40 plaques already in place.
Councillor Paul Garner, spokesperson for Environment said: “Over the years crematorium staff have received numerous requests from the public, and funeral directors for such a facility.
“These plaques provide a personal, lasting tribute to remember and celebrate a loved one. The cost is significantly cheaper than a headstone and provide a means to keep the costs of memorialisation relatively low. By providing a place for these plaques families/friends of the deceased may see cremation and memorialisation as an appropriate, and cheaper, option to burial and erection of headstone.”
The wall has been designed so that stone memorial plaques can be attached to the side facing the crematorium.
Three different sizes of plaque are available to allow for different numbers of words, text size, motifs, emblems or encapsulated/ceramic photographs.
Customers can sponsor a space on the Memorial Wall for an initial period of 10 years with the option to renew for a further five years.
