If you’re interested in supporting colleagues’ mental health and wellbeing, sign up for Mental Health First Aid training taking place this May.

As a Mental Health First Aider, you aren't a counsellor or a therapist, but a trained colleague who can listen without judgement and signpost others to the right information and support when they need it.

Once you’ve completed the free training, you’ll join the Council’s network of Mental Health First Aiders. If a colleague asks for support, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team will put them in touch with an available Mental Health First Aider – and that could be you.

What the training involves

The training is split over two days – Wednesday 6 May and Wednesday 13 May 2026 – and runs from 9am to 4.30pm each day in the Inchyra Road Depot, Grangemouth.

There are 24 places available, allocated on a first come first served basis.

The course, delivered by Falkirk Health Improvement Service on behalf of the Health and Social Care Partnership, is a practical, confidence-building programme that covers how to:

  • recognise the signs that someone might be struggling
  • start a supportive conversation
  • connect people with the right help at the right time

It also helps you look after your own mental health, with skills that are genuinely useful in every part of your life, not just at work.

To register your interest, complete the online registration form.
