A message from Kenneth: Visible leadership
Kenneth said:
Hi everyone,
I wanted to have a quick chat about something that’s come through strongly in both the Best Value audits and more recently in the staff survey – and that’s visible leadership.
Many of you told us you want to see and hear more from leaders, not just at senior level, but right across the organisation, building on some good practices already in place.
That message has been heard. Being more present and approachable is something we’re committed to improving, because visibility builds trust, boosts morale, and helps create a more supportive workplace.
Visibility isn’t always about big gestures; it’s about being present, approachable, and making time to listen.
That can also range from our leaders working from different offices, dropping into team meetings, or just taking the time for quick conversations.
We’re building these habits into the way we work every day, whether that’s site visits, check-ins, or sharing more of the good work that’s going on across the Council.
We recognise that there’s more to do, and we’ll be building visible leadership into our daily habits that helps everyone feel more confident in connecting with their teams.
Most importantly, I want you to know your feedback is being listened to, and it is shaping what we do.
That’s why I’d also encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the new employee survey when it’s live from 27th October, with £1 from each completed survey going towards this year’s Provost Appeal, to help support local families.
It’s a simple, but effective way to share your views and make sure they’re heard.
Thank you for everything you’re doing, and your continued commitment to making Falkirk Council a more connected, engaged, and positive place to work. It really makes a difference.
