Drivers are advised that a section of the A904 between Earls Gate Roundabout and Westfield Roundabout will be closed overnight to allow the project to reach a key milestone in the A9/A904 Improvement Project.

The closure will take place from 8pm on Monday 18 May to 6am on Tuesday 19 May.

Diversion will be clearly signposted and local access will remain available to properties between Earls Gate and Laurieston Road and West Mains Industrial Estate.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

Why the closures are needed

The project is approaching a key stage where traffic on the existing A904 between Westfield Roundabout and Laurieston Road will be transferred onto the newly constructed eastbound carriageway.

This change will provide a safe working area for construction teams, allow removal of the existing carriageway and Midthorn Bridge structure, and enable construction of the new westbound carriageway.

About the project

The A9/A904 Improvement Project is one of the largest infrastructure schemes delivered through Falkirk Council’s TIF programme.

It includes new carriageway layouts, roundabouts – including the Gateway roundabout above - and upgraded routes for pedestrians and cyclists.

Once complete, the project will support safer travel, improve traffic flow and unlock development opportunities around the Helix, Falkirk Stadium and Forth Valley College.
