Looking after yourself as the nights draw in

Simple steps to look after yourself - and each other - as the darker days set in.

With the clocks going back and darker days ahead, it’s not unusual to feel a bit lower in energy or motivation. Shorter days, colder weather and busier workloads can all add up - sometimes without us realising.

If you’ve been feeling more tired, stressed or overwhelmed lately, you’re not alone. Small steps can help make a difference:

  • Try to get outside during daylight hours, even for a short walk
  • Take regular breaks and use your annual leave to properly switch off – that means no logging on or checking your work phone, please.
  • Talk to someone if things feel too much - whether that’s a colleague, friend, or one of our trained Mental Health First Aiders.
